A-gender Pride

The A-gender (or agender) pride flag was created to give a voice to people who do not identify with any gender identity – neither male, female, nor anything in between. For many agender individuals, the concept of “gender” feels entirely irrelevant or non-existent.

The flag consists of seven horizontal stripes:

• Black and grey (top and bottom): Represent the absence of gender and gender identity.

• White (middle stripe): Symbolises diversity and neutrality.

• Light green (centre): Represents non-binary gender identities and genders outside the traditional spectrum.

The A-gender flag is used by those who feel completely without gender and who seek recognition, visibility, and acceptance for their experience. The flag supports the fight for the right to be without gender – just as legitimate as being with gender.

Being agender means you don’t identify with any gender at all. It’s a gender identity that reflects a complete absence of gender — not male, not female, not in between.

Agender falls under the non-binary umbrella, but it's not exactly the same. Non-binary people may feel between or outside the gender binary, while agender people feel no gender at all.

Absolutely. Gender identity and gender expression are different. An agender person might express themselves in any style — it doesn’t change their agender identity.

Use the name and pronouns they choose, avoid assuming gender, and be open to listening. Respect starts with acknowledging someone's identity on their own terms.

The A-gender flag, designed by Salem X in 2014, consists of seven stripes. The black and white stripes symbolise the absence of gender and gender in a broad sense. Grey represents partially present or unspecified gender experiences, while the central green stripe stands for genderlessness – with green chosen as a contrast to purple, which is often associated with gender identity.
